about

Emerging from Memphis, TN, Pooh Shiesty pops off with an intense and inimitable presence. The emerging rapper snakes through airy beats with a venomous biteand slick melodies. Racking up millions of streams and views, he strikes at the most unexpected moments.

“You never know what I'm going to say next,” he exclaims. “Everybody has their own path. I just made the best of what I had. I'm unpredictable and unexpected.”

Hip-hop instantly spoke to him as a kid. His father founded the Memphis-based Mob Ties Records and rapped under the name Mob Boss. In addition to listening to the likes of Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Gucci Mane and Chief Keef he spent countless hours watching his dadin the studio.

Music served as a refuge for Pooh. Launching the Choppa Gang crew, he perfected his wordplay by taking any opportunity to freestyle whether it be in the school lunchroom or his neighborhood.Leaving Memphis for two years, he resided in Pflugerville, TX with his mom and learned how to adapt to new circumstances and surroundings. Upon returning to Memphis, he put his head down, attended summer school and online classes to graduate high school, and focused on music at 18-years-old.

“My dad didn't expect me to rap, but when I did, he helped me,” he says. “He taught me how to put my pain into what I'm doing.”

That's exactly what Pooh did. After showing out on tracks like “Breakin News”,“Hell Night” [feat. Big 30]“,Day One”, and “Choppa Talk” [feat. Big 30], he incited buzz with “Shiesty Summer” during 2019 which caught the ears of many right out of the gate.As his audience grew, hip-hop legend Gucci Mane sent him a direct message on Instagram on April 10, 2020. Shortly after, the icon offered him a deal.“I was cooling at the house, and I got a text,” he recalls. “Gucci was like, ‘I'm listening to your stuff. You're hard. Are you signed?'I told him I was by myself and sent him my number. We locked in from there. It's the perfect situation. Gucci understood it. It worked all around the board.”

While releases like “7.62 God,” “Main Slime,” its official remix featuring Moneybagg Yo & Tay Keith,“Monday to Sunday” ft Lil Baby and Big 30 and “Twerksum” continued to skyrocket, Pooh reigned at the top of Pandora's Trendsetter Chart for over 20 weeks while celebrating his debut on multiple charts including Billboard's “Emerging Artists” and “Artist 100”chartsand the #1 spot on Rolling Stone's “Breakthrough 25.” He later unleashed “Back In Blood (feat. Lil Durk),” which earned its platinum certification within 4 months ofits release and also earned him his first career entry on Billboard's Hot 100 and Rolling Stone's Top 100 further cementing his spot on a number of artists to watch lists (Billboard, Complex, Spotify's Rap Caviar). The track also went on to claim the #1 spot on Apple Music's All Genre & Hip-Hop/Rap charts while the video topped YouTube's “Top Music Videos” earning over 125M views in less than 4 months.

On his debut mixtape, the chart-topping SHIESTY SEASON, Pooh continued to captivate with his undeniably catchy, southern flows. The highly anticipated project topped Apple Music's pre-add chart for 2 weeks straight and later debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top Rap Albums while peaking at #3 on the Billboard 200. He also simultaneously held 3 spots on the Hot 100 with “Back In Blood” (which went on to peak at #13), “Neighbors” and “Box of Churches” featuring 21 Savage.

Pooh was tapped as the first artist to launch Billboard's newest franchise Hip-Hop/R&B Rookie of The Month and high lighted as a Noisey Next artist for the month of February. He was also later recognized as BET's Amplified Artist of the Month for the month of April.Audiomack spotlighted him as an UpNow artist while “Back In Blood” held its spot as the #1 streamed song on the platform. Pitchfork praised SHIESTY SEASON going on to say it “punches well above its weight class as his solo debut and cements his position as top dog of the New 1017,” while HipHopDX acknowledged the widespread excitement surrounding the debut project claiming it “feels more like a highly anticipated follow-up rather than his first trip around the block.” He also went on to make his TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April of 2021.

Pooh Shiesty continues to deliver a sound as raw as his hometown and has a talent that has become increasingly hard to deny.

“Ain't nobody messing with me,” he smiles. “I'm going into this hard like I was always meant to.”
